Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is an animated adaptation of a Science-Fantasy manga. I usually don't like anime because of how cheesy it is but FMA is one that caught my attention and made me watch it entirely.
First I watched the regular ol' FMA but it was produced while the books were being written meaning its plot wasn't the same as the books (and wasn't as good) and suffered from a lot of filler and an abrupt ending that left you unsatisfied. Brotherhood fixes everything and is pretty much infinitely better.
The story takes place in a fictional industrial revolution Europe where the main scientific practice is "alchemy" which uses rune like images drawn with mostly shapes to transform matter. The lore may not appeal to some but the world and story is very easy to get invested in.
The show despite being animated covers a a lot of dark themes which helps you remember events in the plot as they aren't things commonly found in a lot of fantasy adventure media. The show takes advantage of it being cartoon to create brief breather moments which use comedic relief or heartfelt moments to break up the more suspenseful and action oriented segments.
You can watch it on Netflix, but the last couple of episodes don't seem to be there and I had to stream them from some anime site online.
TL;DR - I like it and you might like it.
